This is the electronics wing of the forum, so here is the house rule for every device that arrives on a desk: five minutes of triage before any screwdriver.
Minute one: unplug it and ask what it was doing when it stopped. Dead mid-update, dead after a spill, dead after a move? Each of those points somewhere different first.
Minute two: the smell and sight test. Burnt smell, bulged capacitors, corrosion, liquid residue, or a rattle that suggests a broken connector loose inside. Whatever you find, photograph it before you touch it.
Minute three: the external basics that fix a surprising share of everything. Different cable, different charger, different outlet, different battery. Reseat anything meant to be removable.
Minute four: batteries. A device with a small cell that has sat uncharged for a year is a suspect until proven innocent. Swollen or leaked means the repair project waits until that is handled safely.
Minute five: write the symptom in one sentence. "No power." "Powers on, no display." "Works until it warms up." You will want that sentence for your first post here anyway.
